Grounding
Earthing shoes, also called grounding shoes: every pair has a copper rivet through the sole, under the front of the foot. The sole is buffalo leather, 5 to 8 mm, with no rubber or plastic layer. Leather conducts; copper conducts better. Together they keep the foot in contact with the ground through the shoe.
Where it works
Earth, grass, sand, gravel, stone, concrete. Wet ground more than dry.
Where it does not
Asphalt, wood floors, carpet, tile, synthetic surfaces, anywhere indoors. A grounding shoe is not a grounding mat.
The rivet
One per shoe, set by hand through the sole at the ball of the foot — the point some traditions call K1. It sits flush; you do not feel it.
The sole
Hot-stamped for grip instead of a rubber layer, so nothing sits between leather and ground. Not for rain.
